Sewing
Options
Sewing is a
great opportunity to make modest clothes. There are many advantages
learning a homemaking skill, being able to sew matching outfits,
learning patience to a greater extent (ripping out mis-sewed seams is
not fun!), and the accomplishment of making a garment!

- This place carries many modest patterns. I would encourage trying
out the pattern with cheap fabric to make sure it fits properly. It
is always discouraging to sew something, only to not have it fit.
Patterns
Young ladies:
Simplicity #5900 (long jumper)
Cute, pleated front. One suggestion! Make sure to bring the pleats down
to your waist level. Pleats are a little hard. This pattern also includes
a jumper for a small child.
Simplicity #8164 (Sailor
dress)
Cute sailor type dress. I made two, but brought the inserts in the dress
higher to the collarbone level. It appears this pattern is out
of print. Ebay would be a place to look for it.
McCalls #2910 (jumper)
Simple jumper pleats at the waist. It says its a 2
hour jumper, but I know it took me longer than that ?!
Simplicity #7987 (jumper)
Cute! Has a zipper. It appears this pattern is out of print. Ebay would
be a place to look for it.
Girls:
McCalls # 8404 (8 different dresses)
Simple dress, but cute!
Simplicity #7283 (jumper
or dress)
Again cute, but can be as easy or as hard as you want!
McCalls #4000 (overall jumper)
The overall jumper listed is about the knee, but I just lengthened it
to the ankles and it came out very cute. It was pretty simple to make
and my little sister loves her denim overall jumper!
